English and I have come to a tentative agreement

Yesterday's problem has sorted itself out, pretty much. I can understand people again, but it does take some effort. Luckily (in regards to communicating with insensitive jackasses), I usually respond (and generally speak) so fast that my delay just makes me seem close to average and just a little slow.


As for my 'specialest' appointment yesterday, as I told Kat, the advice from the mental health specialest was "find a distraction, like paining or knitting" from the hallusinations. Basically, the questions they asked were of two types;

(1): (a) "Do you use street drugs?", (b) "Do you drink alchol frequentally?", (c) "How much time do you spend on the internet, or, you know..." **, and (d) "What about gambling?"
            **turns out "...you know..." just means the internet. I had to ask, because when I'm at home, I spend a lot of time playing Freecell and Spider Solitare. These don't count.
(2): (a) "Are people stealing thoughts from your mind?", (b) "Are your thoughts being monitored?", (c) "Is the general populating watching you?", (d) "Is the television (or other media) sending messages only for you?", (e) "Is someone, or something, trying to influance you to harm anyone, either a friend or stranger, or yourself?"
And they also asked two questions at least three times each; (a) "Do you often wish to harm yourself?", (b) "Do you have friends?" (and once, after that, "Are you sure?").

After that, they wern't interested. "Just pretend you're not seeing, hearing and feeling things that aren't there. You know they're no real, so what's the problem?" (Okay, I'm paraphrasing, but not by much.)
Also, they were not interested when I told them the minor hallusinations (the ones I started with back at the end of December/begining of January) used to be normal for me from before I can remember up until I was put on antipsychotics (around when I was 14). That isn't related, apparentally.


I'm going to see my GP today. He listens to me and tries to help.

That's how I felt. And when I told my GP, he made a really weird face and his very carefully phrased responce left me with the impression he doubted the specialists' qualifications as well.

But he (my family doctor) changed my medication to a long-lasting version and hopefully that'll help.
